Scripture

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6

Car Wreck

Yesterday afternoon I was on my way to a friend's baby shower when I was at a stop light and rammed into by a Suburban. Thank God I was by myself, because Jalyn's seat was broke. I'm okay, just sore and have a dull headache. There were 6 cars involved. The lady in the suburban tried to change lanes when she hit the car in the turn lane. Then she pulled it back hitting another car and then running straight into my rear. I heard a screetch and a hit and then seconds later felt the impact. It was pretty scary and I was shaken up for abit. My Expedition rear was smashed in and the front was damaged. The axel looked to be broke. We had to have it towed. We have a rental car, so now we are driving an 09 Toyota Sienna until we figure out what we are going to do. We are pretty sure the car is totalled, so it looks like a minivan is in our near future. I wanted to go take pics today, but yard was closed. Praise God he was watching over me and my family!

Snow (or a duster)!

We got a little snow today, yeah! Jalyn was so excited. I'm so glad she got to see it even if it was just a little bit. Tyler was cute walking in it and he kept falling down. We don't have snow suits so his little bottom was wet and we had to cut our playtime short. Hopefully we get a little more tonight and we can still play some tomorrow before it melts away.

Yipee! Day 8!

Ah, day 8 of the fast! I'm already thinking about what I'm going to eat come Wednesday. I think the little things like a bowl of cereal will be SO good. Maybe some chicken? Meatloaf? And coffee! But I think I will try to stick with decaf. I think I can hold off on eating tomoatoes for awhile. It seemed like everything I was eating had tomatoes in it, so last night I told Travis I was going to turn into a tomato. Jalyn looked all worried and hugged my leg. She said, "But I want you to be my mommy". I thought that was so funny and very cute.

And this week Tyler has been trying to talk a lot more. Yesterday he said "yes" for the first time. He is trying to repeat words more.

Just hanging out at home today with the family and dreaming of Wednesday. ;)

Halfway! Halfway! Halfway!

I made it to the halfway mark of the fast. The first two days were KILLER. I had the worst headache you could imagine. Now I'm doing great and I'm even enjoying some of the fast. It's been fun coming up with dinner meals. Breakfast has been the hardest because oatmeal just plain sucks. YUCK! I started making smoothies with soy milk and that is so much better than oatmeal. I made some yummy salsa that taste a lot like what you would find at a mexican restuarant. Last night I made stuffed peppers and they were delish! I sure hope this weekend isn't difficult. Tuesday is the last day. Maybe I will start planning what I want to eat on Wednesday. ;)

The Daniel Fast

Hello to anyone who is lurking! I could use some prayer. I began the Daniel Fast today and will be on it for 10 days. I have a killer headache from not having my morning coffee. The next 10 days will be a challenge, no meat, no caffeine, no bread, no sweets. I will be living off of veggies, fruits, nuts and beans. Pray that I have the strength to get through it.

Cutsie Stories

I'm just sitting here ALONE (yes Tyler is asleep and Jalyn is at music practice with daddy). I thought I would post some cute things the kids have said or done lately. Tyler is starting to talk (or try) a lot more over the past week. He absolutely LOVES to say words that begin with the letter "P". Over Christmas he was saying "Pawpaw". It sounds more like "PaaPaa". He has discovered that he enjoys making that sound. Now he says "Pop" for poptart, and today I had him try to say "puppy" because I knew he would love it. He smiled real big and said "puppa". :) Most of the words he tries to say he doesn't finish, like "hot" is "hoh", "book is "bu" and "bath" is "baa". He found it to be so funny yesterday when I shushed him and he was saying "Shhh".

Now he goes to get his own diapers when he needs one. I think it's time to potty train! He loves to dance by doing circles. He climbs like a monkey and destroys everything like he is on daddy's bulldozer. It's funny to me how different he is from Jalyn.

Jalyn is LITTLE MISS DIVA! At 3 years old she spends all day prancing around in a dress, heals and jewelry. She begs to wear a dress from the minute we wake up. Trying to get dressed and out of the house is a nightmare because she only wants to wear a dress and it's just the
HARDEST decision in the world on which dress she should wear. It never fails she picks out one that is sleevless and just doesn't understand that it's 50 degrees outside and she can't wear it. So today I get so tired of feeling like she has 3 dresses to choose from that we went shopping. I told her she could get 2 dresses. That was fun! Insert big eyes here! She was picking out these green and red Christmas dresses and these frufru frilly dresses. Then she spotted the pocket books and begged to get one. She started putting necklaces and bracelets in the cart. By this time Tyler was pitching a fit to get down and run around so I just told her that she could pick out a purse that was on sale. So she picked out a little white purse with white gloves for $6. She wore them the rest of the day and said she was like Cinderella. We got home and I hadn't even put all my things down and she was pulling the dresses out of the bag to try them on. She had to try on EVERY LAST ONE. The last one she tried was a summer dress that I couldn't resist because it was on clearance and I figured it would get warm soon enough. When I told her it was a summer dress, she said (in a sophisticated princess voice), "A hot summer dress for a hot summer". Oh me oh my! How did she ever turn out to be the next Disney Princess!?!

Christmas 2008

We had a wonderful Christmas. The kids had a blast and we enjoyed watching them get excited over their gifts. We spent Christmas in Wilmington. Jennifer and Brian came this year and MawMaw and PawPaw came up. Now we have to make room for all the new toys.

Welcome to our Blog

Welcome to The Holder Family's Blog Spot

I don't know how well I will be able to keep up with this, but I'm going to try. There is always something going on and something fun and new to add about the kids. I hope to be able to keep you all posted on the latest happenings with us.

Love,
Mandy
